SRT FINISHES SEASON WITH A PODIUM
MAGNY-COURS. For the last meeting of the FFSA GT season at Magny-Cours, SRT once again called on the services of the Maxime Soulet – Wilfried Mérafina duo. There was very limited rest for the team seeing that the final competition of the FFSA GT at Magny-Cours was only one week after the French round of the FIA GT in Nogaro. Whereas Saturday’s race ended with a fifth place, Maxime Soulet and Wilfried Mérafina clinched a brilliant second spot for the season’s final race on Sunday.
For SRT qualifying ended reasonably well. Both Mérafina on the Saturday, and Soulet on the Sunday qualified strongly and the SRT Corvette C6.R once again appeared to be a weapon to be reckoned with in this French championship.
Patrick Selleslagh: “Wilfried qualified fourth and Maxime third in the strongest field we have seen all season. Even Pedro Lamy was here this weekend. That means something. In both cases we were a mere half second from pole and this was once again proof that our car is very fast. The team has come up with a well balanced set-up at each meeting, as shown throughout the season through our qualifying results in both the FIA GT as also the FFSA GT, and in the race we’re always aiming at a place on the podium.”
